So here I have to options on sound cards
1. Delta 1010lt - known make etc reliable etc
2. Hoontech STaudio DSP24 c-port
www.staudio.com/products/dsp2000.html
reasonable reviews etc and I can buy one for 120euros from a reliable source (production studio) so i know its not stolen.
Now budget is limited so if there are anyother suggestions bear in mind tht I have only 200euros to spend

Dec 31, 2005 01:09 pm Alright I guess I gotta spill the beans here on ST Audio. If you look closely at the specs you will see that the DSP24 card is nothing more then a computer sound card as it runs the AC97 audio chip. As well when you order the DSP24 all you get is the card that uses 1/8" jacks same as your PC and a daughter card with the digital i/o you may never use. To get the fancy breakout box you show is going to cost you additional money for the breakout box, But the card it is hooked to is still nothing more then a SoundBlaster.
The 1010lt looks like the better choice from here.

Jan 01, 2006 07:04 am ah Ha said the blind man to the deaf dog.
Well the offer for the card included the breakout box but I see what you mean the technology with the hoontech is just a dressed up basic system so not really offering more than additional inputs. So It does look like I will opt for the M-Audio. But furthering that question, Would it be better to stack say 2 Delta44/66 together or keep to a card that has more inputs, I am thinking that I can get 2 44/66 for a slight bit less than the 1010lt (be it secondhand)
If you have anyother card suggestions in that area i am truely at your disposal
Cheers then
AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
Jan 01, 2006 07:12 am I would take the dual 44/66 as it would have 1/4" ins and outs...the 1010lt would be mostly RCA's with a couple XLR's...

Jan 01, 2006 07:22 am Thanks for the quick reply dB, just one silly question when using two 44/66 this will use 2PCI slots? Yes Iknow it may sound dumb but well I am.
All the best to you and yours
Jan 01, 2006 07:25 am yep, 2 cards = 2 PCI slots.
No dumb questions.

The actual Delta 1010 (not lt) does this have any major benefits above using 2 44/66 (apart from the obvious only one card, 1 PCI & Breakout box)

Jan 01, 2006 05:45 pm The only thing it will have that the 44/66 wont have is a midi i/o port. Other then that they are based on the same drivers as well as the same hardware, except for the breakout box.
