I've been using Cubase LE and a Firepod for the longest time. They were bundled together. I recently upgrade to SL 3, and now I can't get Cubase to recognize the Firepod in the VST Multitrack part were I switch it from ASIO to the Presonus one. It's not even an option. Anybody know what to do.

SL3 apparently is unaware of the firepod's existence. I don't have SL, but there should be a menu (Audio Setup?) where you choose the hardware, then go into the ASIO panel to choose the driver. If all else fails, re-install the firepod.

Someone else had a similar problem and yes, un-installing and re-installing the firepod and it's driver's seemed to help them out I believe.

Cubase may also not be naming the audio interface to something you recognize. I know my ESI interface's come up with differant names in differant application's so you might try there as well.

I re-installed and updated the firepod's drivers and firmware, now it recognizes the firepod, but it's still giving me trouble with the inputs. Before I could set the input to any of the eight firepod inputs, but it's only displaying ASIO input or something. I've searched web engines but all I'm getting is advertisments for people selling either of the products. I'm still messing with it myself just hoping somebody on here has gone through the experience.

Now all I can get to work is the first two inputs, but it recognizes them as one I think is the best way to put it. If i'm on a track desginated to input from the first input, and the mic is plugged into the second it will still record, and vice versa. However it's the only input I have. I've been toying around with the "VST Connections" but I honestly have no clue what I'm doing with it.

ASIO works in "stereo" pairs, so if you've got your firepod mixer set in the center position, both one & two inputs would go to either side. What it sounds like to me is that you need to set yourself down in front of the computer with your firepod documentation and start experimenting as you read. Just glancing at the PreSonus web site, I see all sorts of stuff to look at and research, starting with:

www.presonus.com/CubaseLEsessionfile.html
AND
www.presonus.com/firepodfaqs.html
AND
www.presonus.com/pdf/fpmanual.pdf

Besides having a good physical signal path, you have to have a good "virtual" signal path. You plug a mic into the firepod, which is plugged into the computer. From there, you go to software. You could have problems with firewire configuration. You could have a problem with the firepod driver. Then you have the Firepod software front-end, which has to be configured correctly. Then there's the ASIO drivers and the recording software and its configuration. According to the PreSonus web site, it is compatible with, and has been tested with all versions of Cubase...

I figured it out, some guys over at the cubase.net forum's had gone through the same thing. You just have to go to the vst connections, clear the automated inputs and then create 10 mono (I had been making them stereo hence the two inputs working) which will be automatically assigned, rename them, and then it's all set up to take inputs from the firepod. Thanks forall the help here, and I did look at those, I want you guys to know I avoid posting questions until I've researched as much as I can. Thank's again.

And now your post here will hopefully help someone else who might come into the same problem.

Thanx.
