What do you guys think of the Firepod and Cubase LE?

Musiciansfriend has them bundled together for $600 and I would like the availability of Phantom power and more inputs (currently I have a Delta 44).

All ideas on this are welcome, and if you are selling one....... I'm probably interested.

Thanks a lot,
Eric

Do a search here for the Firepod. I know lots of people are getting mixed result's with them, some good some bad. From what I have read they have sorted out some of the problems they had early on with it. And it is selling really well so I guess taht account's for something.

I looked for stuff on the firepod and came up with a 50/50 of works/sucks.......

What about Cubase LE? Can anyone tell me about that.

Cubase LE is the typical scaled down or light version of the parent app Cubase SX. They normally have limited track count as well as limited or lighter version's of pluggin's and thing's found in the parent app. Or just plain less pluggin's and feature's found in the full blown application.

There are a few peep's here who use it and dont seem to have any trouble with it being a lighter version of Cubase. But on the other hand a light version is not something to use for absolute serious work. Although many use them with pretty decent success depending on what exactly you want to accomplish.

alright, thanks for the info. Seems like I'm going to buy one. They look pretty decent.....

For the price I'll take my chances.... What else do you do when you are 15 and cant work? lol

Hey Eric,
I've been using my Firepod w/ Cubase LE for about a year and it's been great. The effects that come with LE are pretty basic, but for what I'm doing it's perfect. Also, it's portable.

The "problems" with the Firepod are generally "problems" with the firewire interface. If a person has a quality firewire chipset (TI, etc.), no problems, but if they go with no-name, they get unreliable bandwidth...

PS: I use CubaseLE, also, and it's fine. It "sees" all 18 inputs on my EMU 1820M just fine. As was stated before, it doesn't have all the plug-ins or other bells & whistles its bigger "brothers" do, but you can upgrade to them, if desired, for a bit of a discount.
