Anyone know how to record in Native Instrument's Kontakt? I dont have the manual and the only way i can do it is pretty complicated (I have to pipe the output to one soundcard while i record that output with another soundcard).

Are your soundcards not full-duplex?

I dont think so.

I'm using onboard Realtek AC97 and an external Digitech Vx400 USB interface.

And i dont have the manual because i lost it.

ah, OK, well, it should be downloadable on their website with your registration (I think they have that) or there is probably a help file.

Some of the other websites that sell the hardware have the manuals posted as well. I know Musician's Friend has the full manual for my M-audio Firewire 18/14 (which just got here and set up BEAUTIFULLY, like 10 minutes, I might add) online.

Now to learn the nuances of Sibelius and start my creative genius of songwriting (sound strange coming from an engineer....lol).

kamikaze, if neither of your soundcards are full duplex, you might be SOL. I have Kontakt player as well... but I JUST got it. I have the realtec ac97 onboard sound as well...see if I can figure something out. Might be a while...

I'm guessing you're having to use the realtek to play the sounds and pipe it to your other card to record?

Other way around. It plays through my USB interface and I run a cable from the output to the line input on my realtek. REAL GHETTO, but it works for the time being.

I use both Intakt and Kontakt and the only thing you can record into them is a midi sequance. Or are you trying to record what Intakt is playing?

As far as I know Intakt is a sample playback synth. and Kontakt is long the same lines only with midi sequancer capability.
