I have this local business (haunted house) that wants to do radio spots and a voiceover in a TV commercial for their haunted house this fall. I'm kind of wondering if anybody might have any ideas on how I would go about this.

Noize2u has done lots of commercials...he does the music end for them though...he isn't around much these days though.

What exactly are you wanting to know about?

Just brainstorming I guess. I did not expect to have to do the creative part of the radio spot. I am not much of an advertiser so I really don't know where to begin.

Hey I just saw your question as I am new to this forum. There are couple of this to ask before you start. Are they going to use the same audio/read for both the Radio and TV spot? Or are they requiring you to do two different reads? How many updates are they looking for? I.E this Friday, Tomorrow, Today..... When you do the read are they looking for produced or just a dry read? Do they have a production house lined up that will match up the video to your audio? And finally what format do they want? I hope this helps. I have been doing VO's and production for years, Haunted House/Novelty commericals are blast to do! Good luck!

DON'T compress everything, radio stations do this themselves, you just end up with overcompression, also be careful of how much reverb you use, after they've compressed the hell out of it, that verb becomes far louder and more present and can sound over the top.
