Hi!
I just acquired an E-mu 0404 and I'm using it on my PC (Athlon XP 2400+, 1gb RAM, Win XP SP2), and I'm getting an annoying latency when play midi either via USB with my Evolution controller or via the 0404's Midi port.
I tried using different software as well (Logic 5.1, Reason 3 and Nuendo 3).
Does anyone have any idea how do I solve this?
thanks,
Marcelo.

Jun 14, 2005 06:48 am Check your ASIO control panel (it'll be found easiest thru say, Nuendo - look for a "midi setup" or "audio setup". Choose the "EMU ASIO"). The default setup puts it at 50ms, which really shouldn't be "annoying", just a bit slow. But, with your box, you should be able to get 5-10ms latency. Check out:

as an EMU exclusive board, but keep this one as your primary go-to (much friendlier here). btw, Logic does have some issues with EMU (ASIO). Also, see some of the posts on that sort-of EMU board concerning some of the Athlon-based motherboards. You may have to do some serious "tweaking".

Jun 14, 2005 07:07 pm EMU have a great tech support team. I've e-mailed them a couple of times, and they respond immediately, and with more information than you'd believe. They even sent me a patch in order to run the soundcard properly with a really tricky input configuration (includes optical cables). Love 'em.
Other than that, I'd say jmail is on the money!
