ok thinking of forking out for a new soundcard, i want to record my drumkit to cool pro using a minimum of 4 mics, im guessing a need a soundcard that has 4 seperate inputs that allows me to record directly to each track?

May 22, 2005 06:06 pm you guess correctly.
May 22, 2005 06:11 pm could you suggest one, going to New York in august so i myt pick up one cheaper than in ireland
May 22, 2005 06:11 pm Delta44 - top card.
I use it - 4ins and 4outs..you'll need preamps tho or a mixer with 4 outs.
Cheers

May 22, 2005 06:15 pm Yeah, the Delta 44 would be a good recommendation...an ESI WaveTerminal would be a groovy unit as well as a Lexicon Omega...which I think has 4 inputs...but I may be wrong.
May 22, 2005 06:33 pm have a ub802, 2 XLR's and 2 line ins, should i get seperate pre-amps for the line ins?
May 22, 2005 06:37 pm IF your recording 4 mics, you'll need a pre with 2 channels to add to the 802...
I use the M-Audio "Audio Buddy" - it has 2 channels, with phantom power, no colour of the sound and its good value...about £89 new or cheaper on ebay.
There may be cheaper but I love mine..handy as hell for sure.

May 22, 2005 08:39 pm I dont think the 44 has MIDI, so if that is something you will want down the track you might consider the 1010.
May 23, 2005 07:18 am Correct..the Delta44 has no midi.
I would suggest tho, that the price v what you need factor may allow you to get the 44 for now and get a seperate midi interface further down the line if need be.
The 10/10 is also a darn good card but tis way more expensive (tho it does have 10 ins/outs) but unless you NEED that, I'd get a seperate midi interface later.
I have the 44, with an Audio Buddy PRE and an M-Audio Midisport (cost me £35) which is nowt really - that gives me 1 midi in/out - ideal for what I need.
