Software question

Hi guys, haven't been here in a while. I have 2 simple software questions.

1. I am using Cubase SX, but only the tutorial version. I want to buy Cubase SX 2.0. If all my files are in Cubase SX, when I install Cubase SX 2.0, will the files be ok when converted or will the conversion cause problems?

2. Is software region free? If I bought software from the UK and I live in Canada, will it work the exact same...or are there some sort of region versions?

Thanks

1. I believe you will be fine. I don't know off hand what the differences of the trial version and full. Most likely the trial version will not let you export or only record in a certain bit, something that makes the quality less. But I'm just guessing. I think you will be okay.

2. Not sure, someone here will know more about it.

i think you'll be ok in both instances...

i can't immagine a recording app running differently based on where the computer is.

Crap, what was I thinking....

What Operating System are you running? XP Home or something? I agree with WYD, it doesn't matter where you are unless you are running some OS that was made for different countries by Microsoft (don't think they do, they make one OS to cover everybody where you can change the language, etc.)

So, I'm pretty sure you will be fine.

i use XP home edition.

I didn't think it would cause problems...but i've converted Access 1997 files to Access 2000 files, and had a lot of problems in the process. That's why I'm asking.

My trail version isn't bad. I can do a lot (exporting, filters, etc). But the reason is I just bought a 1010LT from Ebay and awaiting for it to come. I am hoping I can record 6 channels at once on seperate tracks with this trail version. If I can't, then I would need to purchase the full retail.

I see.

Yeah, when dealing with Microsoft Office products (Access, Word, Excel, etc....), I have always run into that problem of opening up an older file in a newer version of that same software. Changed the formatting on you, put weird characters instead, etc...
