I havent listened to that Bowie track for along time. However now you have peaked my interest and I must go dig it out and give it a spin. And yes, its on vinyl.

I haven't heard A Warm Place, but its good to see another Bowie fan on these boards. I was getting a little lonely.

I got to see him with my 2 best friends, who are both also rabid fans. It was last May here in KC, and the show was a total dream come true. He only did like 4 songs from the new album and all the rest was awesome semi-obscure tunes that only fans like us would truly enjoy. His encore? Station To Station! I got to see him in St. Louis on his Outside tour, although due to a navigation error I missed NIN and him jamming w/NIN. doh!!!

Scary Monsters and Super Creeps is a very bold album, and I recognize its artistic merits, but its just not one of my favorites by him. I own all of his albums in one media form or another, and I'd have to say that Hunky Dory stands out as my favorite, but I do really like his Eno-era and Reznor-era stuff too. It's amazing the diversity in his catalogue!

I can honestly say he is one performer who has gotten better with age. Although many more have. It is tuff to be in the rock and roll arena he is in and hold on that long. And be able to change and not piss off the main audiance he had built up. And he never really has lost a lot of the audiance he had/has. Do you have the Lost Highway soundtrack? He does the most riviting version of Deranged I have ever heard him do.

In the lated seventies and early eighties I think I was in the only band around here that covered Bowie.

I have not been able to see him in about 6 or 7 years now. I am bummed by that. But if he gets within the 5 state area this time I am going, and takin the boyz with. Tuna likes his older Ziggy Stardust stuff, as well as some of the newer stuff. He just hasnt listened to all that much of it.

I'll have to check that out , I'm a big fan of both and wouldn't be suprised to find that they sound close . Trent did do a cover of scary monsters on some unreleased demo's that i was able check out and it was really cool.

Ya, Trent is on the soundtrack as well. It seems they liked working together. And honestly I liked what they have done together so far. Very deep stuff.

And ya, the Reznor version of Scary Monsters is pretty sweet indeed.

This board is the only place I think I could go where someone would know what the Lost Highway sound track is. :) There was a lot of very cool things going on on that sound track. I'll have to did that one back out and give it a listen again.

It never leaves my car. Unless of course it is to bring it in here. Both my youngest sons absolutely love that CD.

omg this is my favorite soundtrack of all time, i love the Angelo Badalamenti stuff along with all the other material it is well compiled and flows beautifully. ive been waiting for a good quality version of the movie to come out on dvd, there is an import version on dvd but from the reviews on amazon it sounds like the quality is VHS.. i have never seen this movie.

jeez i didnt know a warm place was borrowed. scary, cause thats one of my all time fave NIN songs. i even used it as music for a 3 minute film i did. never heard the bowie song. how close are they? this is kind of like how in 'come as you are' by nirvana the main riff is directly stolen from a killing joke song.

how depressing.

I wouldn't be too bummed bowie and trent tend to do a lot of work together and as such some times have songs that sound alike . the duet with bowie and NIN on the closure video tape of hurt is awesome .

xtc, ya I hope they release a decent quality DVD soon. My sons have never seen the movie and love the soundtrack. And their idea is if the movie is half as riviting as the soundtrack it should be good.

I thin the Bowie Reznor affiliatiion is pretty mutual, they feed off each other. And it seems to work well. Anything they have paired for seems to be very creative.

forty, 10 days and counting. I hope HGTTG is as good as it should be. I heard a rumor the soundtrack is to be out in a week, but havent seen a thing about it on the web.

How could you have heard all the tracks yet? It hasnt even shipped to the stores yet, and only the single for Bite the Hand that Feeds has been released to radio stations.

Geoff, it is the double disc set CD/DVD with the T-shirt. The DVD looks to be well worth the price alone. The DVD contains 5.1 mixes and some supreme stereo mix, which my new Playstation 2 can handle. Its the video archive on there I am most interested in though.

promotional stuff,is always out way before the release date. anyhow i hate to bum you guys out but i think its his weakest effort to date, there are some killler songs on it, but the album as a whole is a big let down, but thats just My opinion, let me know what you guys think when you get it.

Well I read a quote from Flood who said Trent was traveling a bit down a more traditional rock road. Not as industrial I think was the referance. If its all like Bite the Hand, then I'll be OK with that. After listening to a lot of his soundtrack sruff, I am impressed by the virsatility he has.

And, ya I'll let ya know what I thin when it gets here.

yeah that song is great, but unfortunately its not all like that, itll be interested to hear your take on the album Noize. the piano fills are so similar to fragile its irritating, i loved them on that album. anyhow i dont think any less of trent thats for sure, he is one creative guy and has made some of the best music i have listened to and i am very fond of his live performance, he really puts the effort in. for his next album i wish he would just use an 808 and some cheezy synths, Pretty hate style.
