i have a pc running nuendo and i have been recording for about a year on this setup with one delta 44. i installed an addtional delta 44 and it seems to be working fine, but i have no sound registering in the maudio control panel on any track in or out.

also nuendo is trying to use the computer sound card instead of the 2 deltas. i looked every to see how to set it up to recornize the delta, but dont see anything.

does anyone know what i am doing wrong. are there drivers to correct this?? anyone seen anything similar??

when i had just the one delta installed , nuendo recognized it automatically.

from memory I seem to think that the Delta control panel is where you tell the system how many 44's are in the system...maybe? It's been a while since I have personally worked with an M-Audio tho...

it does recognize both deltas in the control panel, but if i plug a mic into the delta there is no signal.

i should also mention my hard drive died and i had to reinstall everything, so at the exact same time i added the extra delta.
so my original setup before i added the extra interface were all reinstalled.

maybe i just need to reinstall the delta driver again. i am alos running win me. i couldve installed xp, but i personally think that xp uses to much harddrive and system resources to run.
the only update m audio offers requires direct x 8.1 or newer, but i you cant run direct x 8.1 on win me. i might have to go ahead and atleast install win2k. but i'm hoping to get it working on this o/s

any help or suggestions is more than appreciated

I dont think the Deltas will run properly without DX 8.1. I could be wrong, but I beleive it is needed now for multicard support.

I believe dB has stated that stuff like this runs better on XP than on W2K. I haven't tried, but it might sway you to XP.

Personally, I hate ME and think it shouldn't even be around.

Yeah, I personally like XP better, but thats just me, 2000 works fine, just not my prefence...then again, ME would be my choice over any of the FAT32 file system OS's.

i used to run win nt in my studio, but i dont have a copy of it anymore.
i did install win xp last night, when i get home tonight i'll try the delta drivers again.

although if anyone has a motu 828 or 2408 for sale somewhat cheap, i'd definitely rather install that

ok, installed win xp home edition. when i install the delta cards it crashes out the computer. i removed the delta cards and try to reinstall windows and now it wont let me.

I'm seriously considering going back to recording on adats. i was lured to pc based recording by the lure of having everything in the box and trying to keep up with current technology. but i'm getting really frustrated with this right now

Now it won't let you do what? When the Delta crashes the PC, have you tried the card in different slots to make sure there are not IRQ conflicts? Is windows fully updated? I would spend a little time trying to get this working, once it's up and running, I can assure you that you will never want to go back to ADAT :-)

Ya, getting the issues resolved can be hairey, but once they are its smooth sailing for the most part. I've been through the same kind of headaches, and as frustrating as it can be, the outcome is well worth the headache.

it almost seems now that my computer wont allow me to have both delta cards installed. with just one it seems to work fine, if i install both i get a blue screen error that wont let windows start. i only have 3 pci slots to put the cars in, it doesnt matter what combination of ports i use i get the same problem. according to the device manager there are no irq conflicts.i am getting a copy of win 2000, i'm going to try that next.

i wish i could afford a motu.

Shockmatic, jsut a thought. Have you tried both cards seperately to make sure one of them inst bad. The blue screen of death hints at something being not right. Either a card is bad, or maybe a PCI slot is bad. Try both cards in the slot that works, then try moving them.

it is possible that one of the crads or pci slots are bad, i will try that over the weekend.
right now i am waiting for the version of win2k. my version of xp expires in 26 days and i cant activate it because my other computer has the same reg code.

supposedly the other delta card i bought was working perfectly in the pc it had came out of, so i am more inclined to think i have a bad pci slot.
