I have a Roland VS-880 and I want to transfer (dump) track data and songs to my PC in order to do some further mixing and eventually burn a CD. I have also recently acquired (for free...beggers can't be choosers) a LSI Logic scsi differential card (model # LSI Logic 53C875/53C876). Will this scsi controller work for that purpose?

Mar 08, 2005 06:08 pm check the manual for "export audio" you'll hafta hook your digital outs to it (spdif/optical) otherwise you're gonna hafta playback every track individually and re conver them (not good, but definately acceptible)

Thanks for your reply whos. I appreciate the quick response. Unfortunately, I've come by this equipment used (both the older multi-track Roland and the scsi card), and frustratingly enough, I have no manuals to consult. So I've been relying on my own mental ability and intuition in unraveling these uncharted mysteries. That, along with some experience as a recording musician, and a few fleeting tid-bits of info from the net has brought me this far. I just thought I'd try tapping into the knowledge base of nice people like you for some sage advice. Thanks.
ILLbizzel, FYI; I had posted my plea in this section of the forum when I realized my question might be more suited for the PC part of the forum...That's why I posted twice. My apologies if I've irritated you or anyone else.
Mar 09, 2005 12:24 pm RIGHT ON whos! WOW! I googled and must have missed that link.
But I did go to the most logical link this morning and found the original manual. ROLAND's US site (durhay!) had the owner's manual where I can have it emailed to me in pdf. GREAT! I'm a little happier. Thanks! Hopefully I'll find viable answers.
Thanks again.

Welp...read through the pertinent and applicable parts of the manual, plugged the scsi cable into the machine and into the card on my PC. Powered up both, only to face another problem. The PC powers up to the point of the Windows XP logo screen (just before the log in screen), where it gets stuck, remaining there while my beard and toenails get longer and my son goes off to college (he was 13 when I started this)! Just another hurdle to jump. I'll get there. I'm sure it's something small and stupid I'm missing. In the meantime, I read on! This WILL NOT get the best of me!
