help with Omni i/0

I am new to this forum so let me quickly introduce myself. I am a good guitar player and a ******* about home recording/computers. I bought a Delta 66 Omni i/0 to get my feet wet with PC recording and I'm in over my head. I installed the card, the driver seems to be installed right, I have my guitar plugged into input 1 and my keyboard through aux ins 1 and 2. I can hear both instruments through my stereo (through the monitor outs), but I can't get a signal on the M-Audio control panel!?

Can anybody offer me some advice/help? Better yet, if you live in NYC I'll buy you a drink to come over and set my **** up ;) Thanks for any time you can spare for me.

Hmm, I feel like I should be able to help here, but unfortunately, don't have any ideas. Hopefully some one else is more intuitive than I.

Man, I can TOTALLY see why you're confused. I have the Omni too, and I've just been flicking through the manual for you and I'm now more confused than ever! I use an external mixer so I haven't really delved this deeply into the Omni's possibilities before.

It looks to me like each of the four aux ins will receive a STEREO signal, so there's really no need to use both 1 and 2. Also, is it possible that using aux ins 1 is causing a conflict with the guitar signal, which is also coming in on line 1? Maybe try using aux ins 3 or 4 instead, or even try using the LINE 3 IN and LINE 4 IN on the bottom of the back panel, which is what I do... these also have meters in the control panel.

What prgram do you use to record the music going in through the Omni? Cubase, Sonar etc..?

You may need to read the manual over and over again until it all starts to make sense. Then you can explain it to me! ;-)

Haha!! When I bought this thing I figured I would be able to plug it in and play. Guess not. I have tried one instrument at a time, and all 4 aux in's - nothing. I use acid 2.0 recording software (used to use Samplitude in college), but it doesn't do me any good since I can't get a signal.

If and when I get a signal do you have a suggestion for a better recording software?
