Help with Magix Music Studio 7

I'm running Magix Music Studio 7- I've had reasonably good luck with it considering the speed of my computers. Anyway, I just loaded it onto another computer, and I don't seem to be able to monitor previously recorded tracks while I'm recording. The exception is when I use the Punch in mode- then I can hear the other tracks, but I only get 1 minute of record time.

Is this just a problem with a setting in the program, or could it be an inadequate sound card? The sound card in the computer is a Sound Blaster Live! Value version (yes, it's a 5 year old computer with no upgrades).

If anyone has any advice to give, I'd be much obliged.

btw- I'm running this on a Dell.

Where is TonyD when we need him? He is the resident Magix expert...however, typically this is a limitation of the card itself.

thanks. I was afraid of that. I'm on a tight budget, but I can probably spring for a decent sound card.

under the options menu, have you checked the box saying, "playback with record offset"? that should do it for you.
