picked up a really really old Marshall amp at the weekend, the dude didnt know what it was or if it worked, so i got it for the equivilent price of a pack of cigarettes!
The transformers gone on it, so ive ordered a new one, and im gonna try get her going...other wise its a really nice amp. i tried dating it by the serial number, but this one predates all the numbers i can find - which go back to 1969.
sweet huh?

Dec 20, 2004 11:47 am Holy crap, that thing looks awsome, you got lucky. Hopefully its not some stolen amp that the guy is trying to get rid of, or a broken amp which he just slapped a marshall logo on it. Congrats though man, I hope it all works out for the best! is it solid state or tube? how many tubes does it run if it is indeed tube.

Dec 22, 2004 09:43 pm flame, get me a close up shot of the logo and the control knob set. Also if ya can get a shot of the serial section on the back and one of the labels on the speaker back, assumeing it is an open back cab. Also the model number as well.
I can take it to Savage Audio and have him date it and what not.
Marshall solid state should have been earliest about 73 or 74. But email me the stuff and I will get er done for ya. He may even have the sell sheet or original add for it.
Dec 23, 2004 01:31 am SWEET! If the speakers alone work, it is worth much more than the investment. Hope it works out for ya.
Wish I could get me a Marshall. :-(
