Hey, Im looking for a hardware effects processor for guitar. Im not biased toward certain brands so please suggest anything you think is good and in a decent price range (500 and down).

Dec 16, 2004 11:55 pm Digitech GNX 3 (or 4) these are really nice, the Boss GT6 is another great one IMO. Those are the 2 I have used and am familiar with.

Dec 17, 2004 01:07 pm GT6 is what I use, I've not gotten into all the tweaking yet, as there is a ton, but it's pretty impressive. Boss is coming out with a GT8 soon, and it's already available in Japan, so there's that to think about.
I think the GNX has a time delay thing when switching patches, which the GT6 doesn't, though I could be wrong. That's what pushed me over to look at the Boss processor. Correct me if I'm wrong Dan.
There's a web site for GT6 users - www.bossgtcentral.com

Dec 17, 2004 02:41 pm I don't really know for sure pjk, the GNX 3 is my son's and I've played around with it a bit, but I don't recall any delay. The GT6 I think has a better interface for quicker adjustments. The Wammy pedal setting on the GNX blows the GT6 away though, if one is into that sort of thing. :) Other than that they are both great pieces of equipment IMO.

Dec 17, 2004 05:12 pm thanks u guys, that really helped alot. my friend didnt have a clue on wat might be good but i told him i could look it up on this site. This'l be a good start. thanks
Dec 17, 2004 08:55 pm i own the gnx3. It's perfect. Go with the gnx4 if you plan to do serious recording on the flashcard. I like the S/PDIF out on the gnx3 myself.
There is a delay, and im almost positive the gt6 has it too. You have to buy a REAL expensive unit for no delay, but the gnx3 has workarounds. You can turn things on/off within the patch, so you don't have to switch, and then it's all seamless. You just gotta learn how to use it.

Dec 19, 2004 10:44 am If you don't need it to be in pedal format, I think the best multi unit in your price range is the G-Major. As far a a pedal unit goes the Pod xt Live is pretty tough to beat.
Dec 20, 2004 04:12 pm I would definately look into the VOX tonelab. It uses a 12ax7 tube to warm up the signal a littel bit. Ive heard great things.
