ok.....everthing has been goin well.I've ironed out some of the problems I've had but now i'm picking up faint AM radio signals in my tascam.I've unplugged every receiver in the house and can still hear it.Is there a power conditioner or noise filter that will help? If it means anything,I can also hear radio on my telephone. Thanks,Mark

Wow, freaky. Is your electrical system old? Do you live an an old house? That is really strange, do you live close to your neighbors that are maybe using wireless speakers and such? Are using unshielded cable where you should be using shielded?

The wiring in the house is fairly new.I only have one house nearby and the owner is an older lady who I'm sure doesn't have any wireless transmitters.I'm not sure if all my cables are shielded but I can upgrade.I just wondered if there was some kinda filter. My mic cables are shielded. My guitar and 1/4" are not.

Everything should be shielded except the cables going from your amp to your speakers. That would be the first step I would take is getting those upgraded.

I just check my cables and all that aren't shielded produce the radio noise. This is throughout the entire house and even effects the phones! How bizarre! Will replace all unshielded cables....Anyone ever experience this prpoblem?
Thanks for your help!

You live close to a transmitter. I'm a telco/PBX tech during the day, and I've seen that before in properties that were close to a transmitter. Only thing you can do is keep your cables short and sheilded. A cable (or any wire for that matter) is basically an antenna. It will pick up any signal that hits it and send it to the amp, including cell and microwave (the reason you don't hear those is the frequency is above the range of your amps!). AM is common because it's the same modulation that your music gear uses (your analog stuff at least). As for your phones? line filters via radio shack!
