Hello ManisBlind, and welcome to HRC.

I good place to start is reading our FAQ's at www.homerecordingconnection.com/faq.php that should answer a lot of your questions.

You don't say if you plan on recording with a PC, hard disk recorder or a good ol' analog recorder. WHat gear do you have now? How big is the band, how many instruments will you be recording at any one given time? We need a lot more details to help much, and you also should go through the FAQ's and see how many answers you can get from there.

Hey all, im new here and dont really know if this has been covered in any past threads, but what you really should look at is, is this going to be a home studio for yourself, a project studio, or a studio where you plan to bring "new" bands or "clients" in to make money, and although they all may sound the same they are all very different. You start out cutting a few tracks for yourself and before you know it there are bands calling want to lay down some tracks and at that time would you be ready for that? for example: you use a drum machine, bass, and lead guitar for your own personal demo on a 4trk recorder, now a band calls and you realize you need a 12 channel mixer to get everything mic'd that they want. So as dB has stated look at what you have now, what you plan on doing, and what you will need...jmo Tom P.
