Drum Tracks Editing

I have no fr***ing clue about MIDI. Let's get that out of the way! I'll learn, sooner or later.
I'm moving house right now, so I'm without studio (and my guitars....), but that's given me time to think (uh, oh..).

I'm moving up from BOSS BR532 to my new 3GHz PC - let's assume Cubasis or equal for now as my software. I'm comfortable with editing sequences of rhythm parts on my BR532, and there are some nice beats. The learning curve for a new program is going to long and difficult. Here's the question: (...about time too, you long winded &$@%$*!!) Can I import the rhythm tracks as a stereo image onto tracks in Cubasis - as a sound file - and then edit them to give a more realistic feel (pull a few beats here and there slightly off beat, change velocity/volume a bit)? Or can I send the midi out of the BR532 into a VST kit? If If I can, will it allow me to change the sounds/properties of the beats?
I don't know..... I know nothing about MIDI.

The BR532 is a digital 4 track isn't? Read the manual, there must be some sort of exporting function...or, what, doesn't Boss have some free software that you can read from the smartcard on your PC and convert everything to wav files?

FYI, MIDI, I have found MUCH easier to work with in the context of an app like Sonar over a little dedicated digital unit...and I am not MIDI guru either...
