Panning is the same, it just depends where you want things sitting in the sound field. Generally I keep the kick center, and pan the drums very subtly around the field like a kit is. Everything else I just put where every I want to, but RARELY pan anything hard to any direction.
Mixdown is again the same, just set each instrument at the volume you want them at in the mix...simple as that.
