I am trying to create a drum bed in FL. But for the life of me, I can't cut and paste patterns in the playlist. The manuals are not helping.
Basically I have a 32 bar sequence that is in the playlist and I want to put something in front of it.
User’s of FL please help.

Sep 28, 2004 12:46 pm It's been a while, but i believe you need to select the bar you want everything in front of and then insert the amount of blank spaces you need then paste the playlist. in order to copy something you need to double click and drag the selection cursor in the time bar above the the playlist to make a selection.

Sep 28, 2004 01:05 pm Ive been trying to do this too, its been driving me crazy!
Also, what do you do if you need to create a pattern that's a different length than all of the other patterns in your song? Like I have a 5 1/2 bar riff in a song...I need 5 bars that are 4 beats, and 1 bar that's 2 beats. I can only adjust the pattern length for the entire song (which I did, and lost 2 beats of every mesaure I'd programmed).
Sep 28, 2004 02:18 pm i dont think you can do that in FL, tadpui
might have to try 2 seperate instances of FL, which i havent tried yet so i dont know if that's possible.

Oct 14, 2004 08:28 am In relation to my original query ....
For anyone who is still battling with this, I have figured it out. Though I must say it’s the most un-intuitive thing I’ve ever seen.
You need to use the selection tool to select the patterns you want to move, THEN you need to use the 'draw' tool, THEN you need to move over any part of your selection BUT ONLY when you get the two little horizontal arrows THEN slide the selection any way you want.
That only took me a month to figure out.
Oct 14, 2004 02:15 pm what do you use the draw tool for?
say there, my good man, by the way: can you tell me how to use, for example, one of fruity's parametric EQ inserts on just one of the drum sounds in a sequence? i just need something on a hit hat track. i totally forget where the routing is for indiv tracks within a sequence.
Oct 14, 2004 05:29 pm you need to hit the hi hat tab in the sequencer window. then, in the upper right corner, there is a box with either numbers, or two dashes (--). set this for the track you want (eg: 5) and it will show up as track 5 in the mixer window. then do what you want with it.
Oct 14, 2004 07:40 pm so what you're doing is assigning the high hat track a number? all tracks start out unnumbered, and then you've got to number them?

Oct 14, 2004 08:03 pm The draw tool within the playlist window. to layout your patterns. is that what you meant?
BennisHahn is right in regards to your other question. You do have to assign each pattern an FX number in order for it to show up in the mixer wiondow.
For such a cool program the developers certainly make things difficult!
Oct 14, 2004 08:44 pm yes, no wonder i forgot how to do this! thanx. ne'ermind about the other question. i was just curious. i think i can imagine what he means
