Sep 24, 2004 11:09 pm Looks sharp! I just wish they would leave the pre-amps out of the things and cut the cost a little. I'd much rather use seperate tube pre's or pre's on a board. I do like having 8 discreate on a firewire however!

Sep 25, 2004 07:43 am Hey Walt,
yeah, the cost could stand to come down atleast $200 bucks maybe. hehe I was actually thinking of making use of the pre's if I end up with one and getting 2 units to run into a digi002r for 16 channels all together. I like the sound of the presonus pre's, and the digi002r doesn't come with more than 4 apogee's which kinda sucks. hehe The only thing I haven't figured out yet is if you can use the hardware as stand alone units without having to complete the install of the Cubase software. I already have Cubase SX, but would like to use my PT software through my 002r when everything is hooked up and then use the firepods for 2 racks of pre's. :) Could even just run the Firepods through Cubase in the mean time before the 002r if the pre's sounded good enough and bounce everything into PT for mixing and what not later. :) eh... I am thinking I need to get to the store to check out one of the units. hehe
Sep 25, 2004 07:59 am Yeah, but for somebody like PreSonus, the pres are probably a strong selling point for many!

Sorry bout the platitude, but you'll get it. Having not used PT I'm out of the loop.
dB, Your right, story of my life. I always want something just a little off center...go figgure.
Sep 25, 2004 10:08 am Personally, I agree with ya Walt, I have mixers, DI and stuff for my preamping, I DO NOT want them built in to my card...

Sep 25, 2004 09:11 pm Yup dB, I do like my board as a front end. Between the meter bridge and "fingers on" sliders for control, plus routing, well...I guess I am just used to the convenience. Working with volume input on the rack facure would just not be the same.
