Hi,
I am beginning to annoy the neighbours can anyone suggest a good set of headphones and headphone amplifier? Must admit the variety of headphones seems to be a minefield ranging from £3 to £500+.
Cheers

Oct 27, 2002 12:21 pm i personally prefer the sonys i have (mdr-v700), they do cost a little bit, but they sound great and are pretty comfortable.
as for the headphone amp, the behringer powerplay pro (ha4600) is 99$ and has 4 channels with individual volume, mute options, and eq.

Oct 27, 2002 01:55 pm vikki, get the BEHRINGER VAMP. you wont be dissatisfied. 32 different amps to choose from and 16 cabinet emulations. great for home recording. or if you want to go up a notch you can also go to the line6 pod v2.0. these amps are the ultimate and you will use them forever, either for home recording or on a real stack as a proccessor.

Oct 27, 2002 04:11 pm Hi
Thanks for the info about the phones and also the pod and behinger, i'm using my twin at the moment but i will need to feed the guitar through something like this and use phones as not to upset the neighbours.
Thanks

Oct 27, 2002 04:54 pm I have three sets of cans, a Sony MDR V200, Optimus Nova 71's (super cheap and sound surprisingly good) and a pair of Sony Digital Monitors which are awesome. And yes, for not annoying neighbors things like the POD, VAmp and J-Station are great!

Oct 29, 2002 08:58 pm If you are going to be wearing the phone's for long period's of time, I would opt for something like the AKG K240 Moniter or the K240 Studio. They are an semi-open design. and built with a very large cushion. They are a little flatter in the response then the Sony digital's and Studio moniter serie's collapse spoke of, but for extened wearability, they are very suitable.

Oct 30, 2002 01:07 pm This goes for anyone considering headphones:
GRADO.
GRADO.
GRADO.
Find someplace that sells them (usually only high-end audio shops or pro-audio stores), and go take a listen. I almost guarantee you won't be disappointed. The SR-80s cost maybe 90 bucks or so, and they are incredible headphones. The more expensive models are even better, but they'll cost you.
They are open design, so they're not the best for tracking vocals or drums, but for mixing, DI or electronic recording, or just listening, they can't be beat.
It's a small company, and they make great cans. They also make a great headphone amp, but at 2k, it's a bit out of my range!
