Mysterious dropouts using FW410 on notebook

Hi all! I'm running an Acer 1501LCe, WinXP Pro SP1, with an M-Audio FW410 over a Pyro DV 1394 Cardbus interface. I have the latest drivers for the soundcard, and Cardbus device.

My problem is this: When playing back any audio file (whether from Media Player, or through Nuendo 2) or even just monitoring live input, after 1-3 minutes, a dropout will occurr, similar to the kind you would experience if you added/removed an audio track while your song is playing! It seems to happen anywhere from every 1 minute, to every 3 or 4 minutes. And it's not just a pop or click, but an actual gap in the audio stream, which is irritating cos everything - click track included - stops for a fraction of a second until the stream continues. I've tried numerous re-installs, and I'm out of ideas. It's the only thing stopping me from enjoying my new setup (after I spend days trying to get the 410 to work at all, and then found out it was incompatible with the onboard 1394 port *rolls eyes*)

Anyway, any help would be fantastic thanks.

It really sounds to me like a driver or hardware conflict issue. You should maybe contact m-audio with this info and see if there are any known issues.
