Is it possible to take the fiber optic output from a BOSS BR-8 Digital Recorder and using an Edirol UA ID USB Aodio Interface transfer the signal into my PC in order to take advantage of the great software that's out there (ie; HarBal)?

Jul 07, 2004 04:31 pm I have a BR532 (shot my wad before the BR8 came out!), and I'd like to do the same thing with the optical out. My reasoning is that the recorder's A/D converter will help save a bit of processing inside the PC, since it will have a digital signal to work with from the get go. Plus you have all the basic inputs to play with - RCA, 1/4" TS & TRS, XLR, plus midi (not sure how that would help being on the recorder).
Another tip I've seen somewhere here in HRC was to take the Smartmedia Card & read it into the PC with a reader (or slot on the PC), then import the files from the card into some editing software. Then you have all your virtual tracks available, rather than just eight at a time (or four in my case). Not sure if the major multi-track software titles are compatible....
Hope this helps (works!) let me know, 'cos I'm heading down the same piece of track soon.
