Book Report

I just thought I'd share some info with you guys.

A few weeks back I got the book The Mixing Engineer's Handbook. Best book I've ever bought.

The first half of the book breaks down mixing into different aspects, compares different styles, and gives a lot of tips. It's very well thought out, and it made me rethink my approach. I think I'm getting much better results with the few small changes I made.

But the real reason I think the book is so great is the second half. He interviewed 20+ professional mixers that have mixed some big name music. He said he was going to start out by just quoting them through out the book, and that's all, but the interviews were so packed full of info that he decided to include all of them in their complete form. A lot of the reviewers from Amazon.com seemed to think that was worthless, but I think that these interviews were worth the price of the book by themselves. He was thorough enough that it's almost as good as being able to sit down and talk to these pros yourself.

I highly recommend it if any of you guys like learning from books.

Yeah, I got that book about a month ago or so. Great book. Super informative, particularly in how to approach the whole mixing process.

i looked through that book as i waited impatiently at GC for service one day it looked good but...... the first few chapters seemed real informative then the was a bunch of stuff about mixing for video and 5.1 surround ( i think thats the same book then it had all those interviews.... maybe i should give that one another look because the only book i ever actually bought( i get everything else from doing and or the internet) is the musicians guide to home recording-if i knew nothing i would have found this book extremely helpful but even with moderate expirience i only found about 30 or 40 pages of useful info out of a 300+ page book, it was severely outdated

Yeah, this book has a middle section about 5.1 mixing that isn't very useful to me.

But it's the first section and even more so all the interviews in the back that make it worth it in my opinion.

The fat one always watches us.

Db, you and noise should gather up all the articles, reviews, funny threads ect and put a book together. "HRC-The book of music stuff we do"
I only want 10% of the take for having the idea......
