Mackie vs. Behringer (preamps)

I was using a 1202 (not VLZ) and have traded
it to a friend temporarily or maybe not so
temporarily, but I've planned on getting
the 1604 to use live (for the faders, really.)
Just wanted to know if the headroom in the
Behringers compete.

Well, remember you are talking to a crowd of Behringer users here at this forum. In my opion Behring does not compete, I think they are superior. For a home studio, the price/quality ratio weighs heavily for Behringer, in my opinion.

And the lord said, "Let there be fish's in the ocean's, and Behringer's on the desk's!"

Have you guys actually compared a Mackie 1604 VLZ and a Behringer mixer side by side? I don't doubt for a minute that Behringer boards are great for the money, but I wonder if they are actually "better" than the Mackie or you just think they are a better "value".

Better then the Mackie, no, I hear no disguishable difference between the two boards (and I have listen side by side). Better value, well, there is really no argument about that.

In my mind there is no real difference in the sound and the Behringers are half the price, so yes, it really does weigh out for behringer in my opinion.

But as I said, that is just my opinion.

When I was shopping for a board I listen to many boards, and I went with the Behringer for money and quality.

Thanks, dB, that's what I kinda thought. I have been recomending the Behringers to people based on the reviews I've read here. I hae a Mackie myself and it seems to work fine. I just wanted to know that I didn't need to go and buy another board. I've got so much other stuff I need/want.

Blessings, Terry

Lord no, don't go buy another, untill the need arise's. I owned a Mackie, and would again if the price was right. But for the size board I needed and the fact I needed 2 at the time. The Behringer was heaven sent. At much less cost, and effectivly the sonic equal to the Mackie, I opted for Behringer and have been hyping them ever since.
