Putting video on my PC...

I want to take some video off my camcorder and put in on my PC for editing and syncing up with audio. What cards / apps would I need to do this?

You need a video capture card. I use a Pinnacle card myself. Typically cost about $100, or, in the case of ATI, some of their video cards have a capture feature built in. Also, you then need the software that comes with the card to perform the capture. It essentially records it just like a VCR, only to your hard drive instead of a tape.

So can I use said software to edit and sync up audio to the video?

well, that varies from software to software, but as a rule, yes, there is some facility to do that. Sonar works well with video as does Vegas. Pinnacle Studio has some, though not as advacned feature, that is the app that comes with many Pinnacle card. Version 8 is the newest, I have 7, so I can't speak for the newest.

Yes indeed, I have an ATI in my box and it has onboard video capture. The ATI RAge Fury Pro has it, and I think you can pick em up cheap on ebay or whatever.
