I want to take some video off my camcorder and put in on my PC for editing and syncing up with audio. What cards / apps would I need to do this?

Feb 15, 2004 01:02 pm You need a video capture card. I use a Pinnacle card myself. Typically cost about $100, or, in the case of ATI, some of their video cards have a capture feature built in. Also, you then need the software that comes with the card to perform the capture. It essentially records it just like a VCR, only to your hard drive instead of a tape.

Feb 15, 2004 05:15 pm well, that varies from software to software, but as a rule, yes, there is some facility to do that. Sonar works well with video as does Vegas. Pinnacle Studio has some, though not as advacned feature, that is the app that comes with many Pinnacle card. Version 8 is the newest, I have 7, so I can't speak for the newest.

Feb 16, 2004 10:45 pm Yes indeed, I have an ATI in my box and it has onboard video capture. The ATI RAge Fury Pro has it, and I think you can pick em up cheap on ebay or whatever.
