i actually recorded this awhile ago, but just now uploaded it. it is in the metal section, www.homerecordingconnecti...o&cat_id=9. tell me what you think and please be honest, i can only get better if i know what im doing wrong or right. this is not my band (i may post my band in the future) but these guys are friends of mine and very talented kids (just one guitarist and drummer, both about 19 yrs old or so). i recorded the guitar twice and panned it left and right to make it sound more like a "true" band and the guitarist played slightly different parts as well. lots of screaming, probably not your style, but let me know what you think of the recording anyway. wow, its been a long time since ive posted here...

Had a quick listen at low volume, and I think I should listen at a higher volume before I make any critiques. So I will give it a listen tommorrow in the afternoon and post my thoughts then. sonds pretty heavy from the bit I did get to hear.

Awesome guitar! :) The mix overall sounds a little muddy to me, though maybe the lack of the bass is just making it appear so. But I think things just need a bit more definition to them, probably mostly EQ stuff. Maybe don't pan the guitars so extreme. Try to get the rythm guitar parts to sound a bit more upfront.

Thats my intial thoughts anyhow. :)

thanks for the feedback olddog. im most unhappy with the drums. i just wish i had 8 inputs on my sound card so i could isolate each kit piece. also, when i recorded this, i didnt know about putting a mike inside the bass drum right up against the skin that the pedal hits, to get that bass drum "attack". i just raised the bass eq to make the bass bigger (wont be doing that again). but it was my first "real" attempt at recording a band, so im not too unhappy.

Im with OD on the guitar panning, it may be a bit much. Try to bring them together just bit. the drums on the other hand dont seem to have much life in them at all. I couldnt hear any brass at all, this may be due to the guitars EQ and panning. The kick was as you said a bit off. And the snare was all high end attack. I couldnt hear any toms at all if there were any in the tune. The vocal bit was right in your face and didnt really sound to bad at all. With the right work EQ and panning wise on the guitar and getting the drums worked out it would be a great tune.
