Hmmm... honestly, I'd replace those Radio Shack mics, but if you have to use them...

The only way I can think of to get 3 mics to 1 input is a mixer. If your band has a PA system you could use that. You could probably find a cheep 4 chanel mixer in Musicians Friend. Although I don't use it myself, many folks here will defend Beringher to the death. As for your EQ, I'm pretty sure your 4-track has a high and low on each track... and a mixer will have EQ on each chanel... or at least it should.

Another thing to think about... if you have a computer (which I'm asuming you do) you can get started on some decent multi-tracking for very cheep. Goldwave.com makes a multi-track program called Multiquence which you can download for free. The only drawback is you can only save final mixes up to 45 seconds... BUT there is a very easy way around it... download Goldwave as well, and set it to record the stereo out mix, and hit record while playing back your final mix in Multiquence. So there ya go... some free software to get started... and you can do more than 4 tracks, which is always nice... 'cuz bouncing on those 4-tracks can be a pain.

Hope you found some usefull info in there somewhere...

N-Track is another program for your computer that can be downloaded.( www.ntrack.com ) It allows you as many tracks as your computer will handle. I could use around 24 tracks even with my old 300mhz computer. I think the full version is only $40 if you buy it. Using you computer will also illiminate the noise you get from 4 tracks. These programs also have EQs, effects, and more.

Don't worry about EQ's, we usually encourage recording as flat as possible and doing all you EQing in the PC (if that is where you decide to record to)

Also, a very necessary piece of gear is a compressor. I have hard some great sounds come out of $20 RadioShack mics, so as long as you have those, spend your money and things you DON'T have, if you want to replace those mics later, go ahead, but right now, I say make do with what you have and buy stuff you don't.

ya, that's true, I guess that is more to say than for me, I haven't had more than one hour at any given time in the last many months to do ANY work on my own tunes...it is really getting depressing...
