hey, i don't know how much you guys could help. but i have this BOSS GT-3 Guitar Effects Processor, and i got it from a closing music store..so i got it for cheap and all that came with it was the box and the manual....no power suply or anything...so i took it home and it says it needs 14v in. but i didn't have a 14v in power supply handy so i used a 13.5v. anyways it turned on and everything...so i was like "hell yah!" but then i realized that it was not reciving any input from my guitar...so i thought of it as broken and trew it in the closet with all the other broken stuff and left it there...and then i saw it again and rememberd it ....i got it out and tryed to see whats wrong.....well now i'm here....could i not be suppling enough power to it? could .5 volts matter that much? everything else works fine. i put it to the inbord tuner and it wasn't reciving anything ether....any ideas? like i said this probly isn't the place for these kind of questions but i thought it was worth a chance.

In my experience, .5v DOES matter. I've seen the same thing happen before.

Yes indeed .5v does matter. And what might matter more is the output current rating of the power supply. This is rated usually in mA, or milliamp's. If you are supplying the correct voltage but not enough amp's, then you will not have a functioning unit. I suggest you get ahold of another music store, or call or email Roland to get the correct power supply.

Hopefully, you didn't torch it by trying to run it with a pwer supply not intended for it. You might have even given it to many amp's and it pooped on itself.

If you find the correct adapter, and still find that it isn't working right, you might want to take a second to "open it up". Remove the top cover to reveal the inner circuitry, and make sure the wires coming from the Input have a good connection. I used to have the same pedal, and due to the constant plugging and un-plugging, sometimes the wires would "shake" loose.

Good point J@, sometime's we tend to over look the obvious.

I just think back at some of the things I threw away because they didn't work, yet could have easily been fixed, had I just stopped and taken a look "under the hood".
I would hate to see another piece of good equipment trashed if it could be fixed.

I am with ya J@,

With the constant abuse some of this gear takes it is often the obvious stuff that breaks, cable connections, jacks get dirty, tubes blow, etc, etc, etc...sometimes you just need to clean off the end of your cable with some alchohol, or swab out the jack.

Maybe basic electronic equipment maintenence would be a useful article to try to get up around here...hmmmmm...

Hey db that's one hella good idea! Preventative Maintenance!
I had a guy come to me about two weeks ago with a hardcopy(adat), of the project he was working on. So I popped it in the trusty 'blackface' (3600 hours on heads, and still smokin!) hit the play button. Pop's.....hiss' you name it. His 'project' sounded like A sledgehammer hittin a terd. heh. And all he could say was, "Whaddya think?"
I had to say something. "Dude, You need to clean your sh*t."
It's one of those things that's so simple, we tend to forget about it. But one day it's come up and bite you in the @ss if you don't take care of it.

I never throw anything away. If it has part's, I'll strip it or save it whole, untill the day I need a piece.

I am a pack rat, yes. But many is the time, I did have that part to fix the thing that was broken. Just because I saved some piece of junk that was broken, B4.

Also, consider the fact that Noizes studio has a closet that will not close because of all the stuff he has pack-ratted into it :-)

hehehehe
