Anyone heard of this or using it? I bought it and it is a hell of a lot of fun! I recommend it for everyone!

I have not played with it, but the guitarist I am working with has it and he has said it's a lot of fun, but hasn't really elaborated as to why or what is cool...

Well for me I like it because it has a lot of songs that I don't know how to play yet and it teaches you to play them perfectly. The other part that I like about it is the virtual band that you can jam with. They call it session mode. Check it out.

I've heard good things about it as a game, but not so much as for being like a tutor or lesson giver.

Also, apparently there's one out for Xbox only called Bandfuse, which is a better mix of lesson/gaming with a more standard tablature that is animated.

Right now, I'm using Rock Prodigy (the PC version, not the iPod/Phone/Pad version), which is more of a lesson giver with some slight scoring elements thrown in, and for a total beginner like me, I'm finding it pretty useful. Though, it's not really a "game" per se.

So, in a nutshell, from what I've read:

Rocksmith: More game oriented with a little bit of lesson/exercise thrown in.

Though, when I mention Rocksmith, I'm talking about the original game. Apparently Rocksmith 2014 is coming, and it looks to improve on the original game.

Rock Prodigy: More lesson with some slight game elements thrown in.

Bandfuse: Rock Legends (the XBox game) is supposedly a closer marrying of lessons and gameplay, but I don't know that much about it.

And of course, like any of these games or programs using real instruments, there's the issue of round trip latency. The original Rocksmith had issues with this, depending on what type of connection you had going to the TV. That may have been going over HDMI as opposed to composite, though. (I remember reading that one connection from the game console had more latency than the other)

But yeah, some people really dig Rocksmith a lot, particularly folks who already know how to play, since there's a pretty solid song selection. There's a few threads and opinions about all of them over on the ultimate guitar forums.

I need to get back into practicing and doing the Rock Prodigy lessons, since you know, I just got a new (used) electric back around my birthday. (It's an Ibanez Arondite series ADD120)

using this post as a test for the new web site design :-)

Ok, ignore this post now, refer to the latest update regarding the new design...I would delete this, but then it would just say I deleted it, so, why bother, I'll just ramble on here too.
