Found a neat little floor plan designer for android:

So, I was messing around recently with artsy crap, and wondered if android had any floor plan designing type stuff. Well, I found something that works pretty well:

play.google.com/store/app...WEuYW5kcm9pZCJd

It's a nice little app, free, and is fairly flexible on the room design. You can set it to metric or imperial measurements. You can change the thickness of walls as well. You can add draggable corners and create odd angles and such. Rotate the room or furniture pieces. Basic furniture placeables, and some basic room shapes (square, L, and T shapes) windows/doors/passageway, and you can color code rooms and furniture.

It's pretty flexible and intuitive for being a freebie.

I'm using it to design a mockup of my "dream" studio. Or at least something like it anyway. Just for funsies. :P

Of course, it's strictly floorplan. No 3D modeling, so can't plan the ceilings or anything. Though, for ceiling ideas, I'm thinking lower at the console, and higher at the back of the room. Lower at the back of the live room and higher up towards the front/window to the control room.

Edit: Okay, I was saving, and didn't catch a couple of walls that got misplaced as I was trying to fine tune wall thicknesses in spots, but well, however imperfect some of the dimensions are, here's the basic concept that I was drawing up. Not ideal by any way shape or form.

I wasn't really paying attention to LxW ratios when I drew this up. I know the basics, such that having dimensions that are not divisible by each other, or have no common denominator are generally a good thing. Also, the triangle behind the sofa in the control room would probably be a big *** bass trap.

These probably don't have the best idea dimensions/angles wise, but I had fun drawing it up anyway. :P

The drum set doesn't really look like one. I tried to fake it by placing lamp pieces to make it look like one. :P

And yeah, I should probably delete the exterior windows in the control room. Unless they are, you know, two inches thick and well sealed or something. Probably the same for the live room. :P

Haha! Well, here's one I did the other day.

This one is even larger than the first. Granted, some of the stuff like the bathrooms/reception/recreational could probably be scaled down quite a bit to conserve on the interior dimensions.

Maybe even shrink the live room a little bit. Otherwise, I'm kinda happy with this layout.

But, for something more modest, here's an idea for a typical bedroom. The dimensions are semi-arbitrary, but I'd like to have at least one prime number on one of the walls, ideally.

I'm aware some of the stuff isn't perfectly centered and such, but the app is a little finicky on moving things around in small amounts. :P

That is a pretty cool app to waste some time with, you got some neat sketches there...one of these days I gotta upgrade to a smart phone...I still have no idea why I need one though...neat little stuff like this, but nothing very productive or profitable.

I used to say that before I actually got one. They're the shiznit and I couldn't live without it now. Between the instant web searches for whatever on the fly, GPS, an 8 MP camera, a Camcorder, and access to email at any time.... its crazy not to have one. Add in the bluetooth, I now have Pandora/IHeartRadio streaming in my car. Got a metronome app.... a must have! A photoshop app! Its really endless what can be done with these. Crazy awesome... seriously.

The GPS would be uber helpful, I can see that for sure...beyond that, the only interest I have is for mobile development...outside of that, I don't WANT to be that connected.

Eh, I use my tablet mostly when I'm out at the coffee place nearby. I like having games on the go without hauling the laptop and its power brick around.

I have a lot of games on mine, but I also have some stuff for sketching bad art, taking pictures at performances, playing music, and, of course, typing up blurbs to HRC, or e-mail, facebook, whatever, and checking up on my usual haunts.

I also have a couple music apps on there which are fun to mess with, though Android is so far behind iOS on the music creation front that it's become a bad joke.

Not to mention the apps Rob mentioned for sound analysis in the clubs, and there's a couple SPL meters out there as well. I think BH mentioned one for iOS, JL Meter or something.

And, of course, there's various web analytics stuff, network analysis, etc. Sniffing the local wi-fi network to see what all devices are on it is something my wife's dad likes to do, hah. Admittedly, I've done it from time to time. I have one app that can do network stress tests by blasting packets....I've used that once or twice on places that made me a little PO'd. xD *cough*
