Anyone here have this software? I am thinking of purchasing it.

I understand it's not a engine full of raw sounding instruments which is fine by me. But from the things I have researched and read it seems like a pretty solid engine.

Can't say as I have ever heard of it, but dang, it ain't cheap! There are so many synths out there it's hard not to lose track of them

It is not cheap at all...

Photography has ruined my sense of money when it comes to purchasing equipment. I still budget accordingly...but...There's a rule in photography equipment that I am sure applies somewhere in audio as well...

"If the lens is under $1000 it's usually a p.o.s."

A $499 synth to me is cheap compared to the $2200 camera bodies I have.

^^^ Sorry, that's not a brag...I should say it's more budget-able than the camera equip I own...The photography and architecture (and anything else) is all rolled up into one LLC. and the architecture makes the $$$ but I have to spend it down to stay in lower tax brackets. :D

Yeah, I've heard good things about it too. Also good things about Diva, Synthmaster, Zebra 2, Dune and Diversion if you're looking into subtractive synthesis. I'm guessing you're after an analog-ish kinda synth sound? Anyway, should be quite a bit of info about it over on KVR Audio. All in all, I think it depends on the sounds you want plus how well the interface floats your boat.

There's also Alchemy which basically re-synthesizes the samples you feed it, but it also has a very deep engine.

I'll pop the links up for each one.

Omnisphere: www.kvraudio.com/product/3101
Diva: www.kvraudio.com/product/5252
Zebra 2: www.kvraudio.com/product/761
Diversion: www.kvraudio.com/product/5128
Synthmaster: www.kvraudio.com/product/2548
Dune: www.kvraudio.com/product/4731
Alchemy: www.kvraudio.com/product/3406

Edit: Also, if Omnisphere is bugetable, then these other synths ought to be "dirt cheap" lol. Several are sub-$200. :)

Also worth looking at are The Alchemy Player and Zebralette, which are free "lite" versions of their larger packages, but are still capable of some pretty nice sounds, and the Alchemy player can load high-quality SFZ samples (a little different than soundfonts)

Going off track here, but I've been looking at the newer freebie synths a lot lately too, and I think these are worth looking at.

U-He created Tyrell Nexus 6: www.kvraudio.com/product/4927 Which I still have yet to figure out.

Kairatune has some interesting presets, and some good modern-electronic sounding presets. I just downloaded a buncha user-made banks for it, which I'm going to dig into soon, but I like the sound of this one. www.kvraudio.com/product/5187

Charlatan is a simple 2-osc analog synth, which folks are likening it to the quality of the famous Synth1. www.kvraudio.com/product/5169 and indeed it sounds pretty good when run through some effects plugs.

UGO's Rez3 is out, and free, but he's charging for the banks he created this time around. www.kvraudio.com/product/748

And I've always liked the Togu Audio Line stuff, Elek7ro II and Noisemaker are pretty solid sounding, though not as complex. www.kvraudio.com/product/3758 and www.kvraudio.com/product/4559

In the area of non-synth-based-music, IK, and NI both have released free stuff in the last couple years, though you have to create accounts on their sites to get them, then download/install and authorize them. :P

Thanks J-Bot...I will certainly look into those before dropping a few hundred....or half a grand...

Omnisphere seems not to be a raw, organic VST but I can tell they used a lot of organic instruments when building it. Then got all "techie" with it.

Should be an interesting path either way. :D

Here's a couple of samples of tracks I am gearing my sound similar to. Minus all the female lyrics and maybe not so much repetition and looping. Not that I have an issue with the lyrics...

Almost film score-ish.

Yeah, well, I know Alchemy, even the free player version, has some very nice ambient pad-like sounds, and the included sets are pretty good sounding.

Zebralette, the lite version of Zebra 2 has some good sounds, and are a little more varied. It's just 1-osc, but the way it's set up lets it get some very organic sounding stuff. Alchemy's free player seems to have a lot of ambient/pad type sounds included. String-ish sounds, piano with some stuff done to it, choir-ish pad sounds, etc. etc.

Both are definitely worth looking at.

Also, while not on the list, I came across a nice drum synth called RPS-1 www.contralogic.com/vst-plugins/rps-1/

It has some preset grooves that are fairly varied, which you can tweak, and you can load in your own sample sounds as well. Each sound/track/whatever in the synth (total of 8 of em) has a bit-crusher, filter, and output, which can all be automated via the sequence or midi controls. The beats themselves can be set to have a probability of triggering in the sequence, which is kinda cool. I've been playing around with it a bit, and I kinda like this one. It's not as sophisticated as the drummer AI type stuff in Jamstix, (which is my primary drum tool, since I can't write "phat beatz" for ****) but it's definitely nice for more electronic music beats. Definitely worth looking at. :)
