was looking to buy a mic and monitor to allow me to talk to the people in the studio from the control room. i then had a look on my mixer and saw that it had a mic built into to, under the talk button, it has 2 buttons, "to studio" and "to AUX 1 & 2" which obviously means that you can talk to either one of them... but what i don't understand is, which connections in the mixer are they and how would one connect it up??

if you need to know my set-up to help me, it is..
- allan and heath ZED R16 mixer
- main outs go to the inputs of my headphone amp and the outputs of headphone amp go to monitors

i'm staring to think that the headphone amp may go elsewhere so that when i speak to the studio, it goes to their headphones?

From the manual:

Talkback Section

A built in microphone and talkback system allows the engineer to talk to the artists in the studio or foldback monitors on stage. The Talk Level control adjusts the gain of the amplifier, be wary of feedback if the talkback signal is routed to the local monitors via the AFL system or the proximity of the studio monitors is such that they are able to feedback to the talkback microphone.

The To Studio and To Aux 1 & 2 switches route the talkback signal to the studio monitor outputs for artists monitor talkback or to the Auxes 1 & 2 for stage monitor talkback. The non-latching TALK button enables the system and sends the signal from the microphone to the selected destination.

If you bought your mixer used and don't have the manual, you can get it here www.allen-heath.com/uk/pr...roductId=ZEDR16

More times than not, your headphone mixes are going to be aux 1 and 2... This is almost self-solving.

i know what the manual says, i'm just not sure how to connect it... yeah i thought i may need to plug the headphone amp in somewhere else, i'm just not as familiar with aux's yet
