Power Amp ? newb.

My first post! I am currently looking for a Power amp to power 2 S115IVA-Oak Yamaha speakers. These are a little older and I believe no longer distributed. I haven't dealt with powering speakers and the wattage thing confuses me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, the speakers will only be used in a room that seats only about 100 or so and the speakers are mounted high up on the wall. I should also mention I'm looking to be conservative financially :)

Here's the specs of the speakers:

Woofer 15" cast basket
Tweeter 2" titanium
Frequency Response (+/- 3dB) 55 Hz - 16 kHz
Power Handling (noise, program, peak) 250/500/1000
Dimensions (W x H x D) 19" x 27" x 14"
Weight 61 lbs.
Sensitivity, W1, 1m (approximate) 99

I believe the speakers are 8 ohms.
Josh

For myself, I'm rather partial to QSC power amps for a budget. They are clean, sound great, and don't cost an arm and a leg.

For what your looking at, I think that the GX7 would work well.

And if the price is still to much, take a look on Ebay. You might be able to find it cheaper there. But, you won't get the warranty with it.

Seems to me you're either using them for a small middle or high school theater setting or church type setting.

Either way, Rob, as always, is exactly right.
I'm not much on live sound, and he's the expert, but I did find something that might be more "wallet compatible."

Rob may be able to give reasons against this AMP, in which case I would follow his advice, and VERY seriously. But otherwise, on a tight budget, this is what I would go with.

But seriously, wait for Rob to chime in.
He's both directly and inadvertently come through for me for YEARS. He's a master of his craft.

I'm with Rob on the first choice being a QSC.

Carvin and Yorkville are also good choices that may be more affordable.
