preamps on processor vs mixer:

Processor to mixer or use mixer aux send/return?

Specifically, I am using a Behringer Ultra Voice VX2496 processor with a Behringer Xenyx X1204 USB mixer (and then into the PC) for a news/pod cast.

Anyone know regarding Behringer preamps for sure?

My preference would be to use the processor into one channel on the mixer because:
a) shorter chain (= less potential noise)
b) would rather leave the Aux send/return free for other purposes

However, just wondering if the preamps on the mixer might be superior (newer technology), and therefore it might be better to plug the mic into the mixer, and use the Aux send/return.

[BTW please refrain from pointless Behringer negs, they are a waste of everyone's time; this is what I've got for now to use for this specific purpose, just want to know the best way to make them work]

ha ha, I think you may have had a bad experience on another site...

Um, I don't know the difference between the behringer pres on the different products. My old behringer mixer pres are ok...nothing special but they work. Just for simplicity I would go mic -> processor -> mixer.

You can try both options and see which one sounds better, or if there is even much difference...

behringer to behringer i guess would make ur logical assessment justifiable, taht the newer pre on the mixer would be better. But then again mixer pres and dedicated pres... thats another thing to think about.

Id have to go with dedicated pre though.

so mic, proc, mixer
