I'm just trying to do some quick crude recording for a song I am working on and cannot figure out why my audio is cutting out. I record the 1st track with no problem, but when i record the 2nd or any subsequent tracks, the audio cuts in and out. I am using a laptop and have tried recording with my studio mic plugged directly into laptop mic jack as well as w/o mic and the result is the same either way- cutting in and out of audio sound after the 1st track has been recorded. So it must be picking up audio from the 1st track internally, I just can't figure out how to change my settings so that it won't do this!

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!! I'd like to figure this out tonight. Thanks in advance!

The first thing I'd want to know is what are the specs of the laptop and what type of sound chip is in it...it wounds to me like you are having issues due to a cheap sound card, not made for full-duplex use (sound going in and out at the same time) or the computer being underpowered.
