But still tasty in its many pieces.

Basically, my contract with the PC Deployment gig ended/terminated. But no biggy. Iv'e got more time to work on music again, and still have the deal with the web geeks going for me. If anything I have more time to devote to them as well.

So yeah, still hunting for the ol' "day job" but going to try for something closer to home here. Possibly part-time, but probably full-time. If I go for another contract type of gig, I'm going to aim for something that's at least a year.

But yeah, more time to muck around with music at least, which is always a plus. :D

In IT contracting is where it's at right now, at least here in the Twin Cities...I've been doing it for a long time now...6 to 8 week gigs...a few times I've been extended another 6 to 8 weeks...now I am doing 2 part time gigs and a few smaller freelance things...between 'em I'm doing very well, financially speaking, but I hear ya, that one, bread n' butter day job would be nice to come by, just not that easy in IT in the current economy.

That being said, I will say I've seen a very large uptick in available contracts the last few month, and a few more full time perm jobs, so it IS getting better.

It's tough in IT, when times get tough IT gets cut cuz IT is a cost center.

Careful what you wish for! I sometimes wish I was still working contracts. I could use a professional break to work on my music, it's been all I can do to record a band on the weekend and attempt to learn techniques during the week before going to work at noon. Running short on time for friendships...but I guess I need contacts more than I need buddies, which is what the free recordings on the weekend are all about. Oh well. The only time I have to write songs is when I'm traveling in hotel rooms with a harmonica. I used to ship my guitar to my deployment locations before leaving, but I've decided not to put her in that kind of danger from now on. Been taking advantage of the "Guitar Center rental policy" sometimes too, hah.

Good luck!

Db: I may have asked you this already, sorry. Do you go through organized networks to find companies in need of your services? I don't have an immediate need for such a network, but it never hurts to be prepared. Are they skill specific? I'm a Cisco guy, and I'm getting more and more versed in Citrix technologies.
