Sound Card Problems

I have recently installed an M-Audio Delta Sound Card into my computer but i don't know how to change my computer settings so that this is now my default Sound Card that every programme will use. I have tried changing things in the sounds & audio devices settings but it doesn't work. I have Reason & Media Player running through my M-Audio Sound Card but the internet & Itunes & all of the normal computer clicks are still coming from my standard Sound Card.

Does anyone have any advice on how i can make the M-Audio my default Sound Card? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using XP

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties > Hardware

Any other Windows OS is similar...

I've been on there it doesn't give you any option of changing settings. It just says The device status, manufacturer & location & if you right click a box comes up saying "What's this".

Hmmmm, if you go in to each devices properties you can enable and disable each device that way, maybe that'll work.

Start > Control Panel -> Sounds ADP -> Audio

Middle tab should list the devices you have that are available.

To be really sure, and to remove any doubt, also to remove any incompatibility possibilities, go into your PC bios and disable your sound card in bios. Actually, first, I'd go into add-remove programs and remove the drivers for that sound hardware. Then, when you reboot, go into bios first, and disable the onboard sound.

Also, after checking in the audio applet to be sure your Delta is selected, I'd go to the Sounds tab and disable all system sounds. Choose the "no sounds" scheme so nothing comes from windows anymore.

I do both of these on my system; no onboard sound enabled, and no system sounds.
