Best Rig for Harmonica

I usually just play through my vocal mic, but I heard a band a while back and the guy had a special harmonica mic that he played through a small tube amp which was mic'd and then went through the PA. I don't know if this is the best solution but the sound was great. There was a little overdrive and reverb on it and it sounded very cool. Any suggestions?

Google is your friend:

www.angelfire.com/music/harmonica/ampdmics.html

tons and tonnes of harp stuff, and there's an amplifier link at the bottom. For cheapy, the epi Jr tube amp comes to mind, I thin TallChap has one (haven't seen him in a while . . ) and likes it much for guitar, but I bet it'd be great for harp too.

Also things like Champs, broncos, princeton (and princeton reverb) for harp. Smallish, low-wattage amps, would be great for harp, plus kick out enough volume for stage at least, and plenty for the crowd.

Thanks for the link. I will check it out. I have a Fender Blues Jr. that I don't really use much. Would that fit the bill?

Sure. The Blues Jr. is a good choice.

The one mic that most harp guys seem to carry is the Bullet mic. It gives it that little distortion that just sounds great on harp.

I checked out that link and the first tube amp that they have pictured is a Blues Jr. I love dumb luck!

This is the mic that Rob is talking about. I've used them for years and have a vintage one. But the newer ones now are back to sounding like the old ones. Nice and gritty and through that Fender it will have some killer grind.

Late to suggest the Bullets as well...

I have an old Electravoice Lapel-style version of one of those, and yeah... killer through a tude amp w/ a bit of that good ol' tank-verb-spank!

Harps are one of those instruments that are just so easy to get a good sound with...like, 'right away'. Such a cool instrument, for that reason alone.

I got the Shure Green Bullet and played it through may Blues Jr. at a gig on Saturday. Great sound! It is a feedback machine though but I will work on getting that under control. Thanks for the help!

I think it is difficult to find the mic for Harmonica, you only search it by google
Hope you would find the right mic for your harmonica
