I have an upcoming gig where I will be Playing and DJing for a Christmas Party. This will be in a Hangar. Yes, a full up Air Force hangar. Complete with amazing Echo Effects. I would like some input on setting up.
Here's my Gear:
2 - JBL JRX 125's
2 - JBL JRX 118's
2 - Peavey 15m Monitors
2 x Behringer EP 2500 amps
1 x Crown XLS602 Amp
Compressors, EQ, Crossover, Delay
and of course all the band stuff,
1 - 4 x 12" Cab
1 - 2 x 12" Cab
1 - 18" Bass Amp
I know I can't eliminate the echo of a hangar, but is there anyway to minimize it some.
Any suggestions on setup?

Nov 21, 2009 12:37 am Depending on how many people you pack in there that can help dull some of the echo. Even most of it if the crowd is big enough. Even if you can get some fabric of any kind, tapestry rugs or even flags hung on the side walls from the stage foward will help some as well.
Nov 21, 2009 11:08 am The other thing to keep in mind on a show such as this, is low volume.
The room will bounce and double the volume as it goes. The more energy you try to put into the room, the less intelligible your sound will become.
Also, try to aim the PA to the center of the hangar. Don't aim it to where it can hit any wall directly. And let your amps on stage fill the room. Just mainly run vocals in your PA.
Only fill in the rest just under your vocals. This will help everyone understand what you are singing. Otherwise, it just becomes a cacophony of sound. With non of it being intelligible at all.

Nov 22, 2009 08:04 am Thanks Fellas,
That definately helps. I will be real careful about the volume levels.
Noize there should be about 200 people there. So hopefully they can be good absorbers. lol
