Anyone know about Antares Mic Modler?

This is a discontinued plug in but its a very nice one! If you already are familiar with it then I don't need to get into all the details. Here's my question. I have a presonus tube pre, and I would be using it with my SM57. So if the Mic Modler is supposed to cancel out the source mic response would it also effect the preamp? Or should I just bypass the preamp altogether?

It's nothing more than a (bad, IMO) EQ plugin.

It will NOT make a 57 sound like a U87.

You can't bypass the preamp... How else are you going to get the mic-level signal to line-level?

Yeah your right about it not makin it sound like a U87 but I'm just goin for a little improvement is all, can't afford but what I got right now....about the pre amp I use an M box 2 which has built in pre's. I now bypass their pre's and use the presonus for its tube saturation, so yeah I could go that route but I didn't want it to "EQ" the presonus, see what I mean? I just wasn't sure if it would matter or not.

In your case I'd bypass the MBox's preamps altogether, just use the line inputs on the MBox (if it has line inputs) from the output of your PreSonus. If you go from the Presonus' outputs into the MBox's preamp inputs, you'd be preamping the signal twice. That's a situation that almost guarantees excess noise. So be sure to bypass the MBox's preamps.

In my opinion, the preamps on the MBox are superior to the Presonus (assuming its a Blue Tube?), even if they don't provide a drive setting for the tube. The drive provided by single starved-plate preamp tube isn't really anything to be amazed by. You could probably find a "tube" or saturation VST plugin that's provide close to the same results.

Yeah I'm using the Tube Pre, its pretty much the same thing with drive and gain. I'm just sayin if I was to keep my settup like it is will the Mic Molder effect the pre amp. Will it "EQ" the Presonus too?
