Need Help Recording Drums with Omega Lexicon

I am just starting to get into the recording business so I'm pretty clueless about some things. O_o

To record my drums I purchased a Lexicon Omega and 4 Shure mics: 3 sm-57's and a Beta-52. I want to have 4 channels recording simultaneously.

However, when I use the 4 TRS Line-ins, the recording comes out EXTREMELY quiet compared to when I pass the mics through the XLR outputs. Problem is, Omega only has 2 XLR outputs.

Is this because I'm not using a pre-amp for the TRS line-ins? In that case would I need to buy a separate 2 channel pre-amp for Lines 3 & 4 (assuming I would be using the 2 XLR preamps Lexicon has, for a total of 4 channels)?

Or is there a way to record using what I have??

Thanks a lot!!!

if ya wanna use all those mics, then yep, you'll need some form of a pre.

you can always use the 2 xlr's and just chuck a mic on the kick and one for the overhead. you'll need a condenser for the O/H though.

it works surprisingly well. considering what you have for now, its a good option.
i know you dint mention a condesner mic but i guess you could try a 57 right in close? i never tried it.

you would really have to mess around with the level in the software.

i dont think it'd be much chop though.

Yep, if you want to use 4 mic's you will need 2 extra pre amps for the inputs on 3/4. That is the only way to get a good signal on the input.

I don't work with recording drums because their are so many good ways to emulate them these days AKA drumkit from hell, ez drummer, etc.

BUT, what if instead of using 2 extra preamps, you spent the cash on getting yourself a mixing board. Craigslist one, it's usually not very expensive. Way easier to keep everything level, and all your channels should be pre-amped.
