Amp head:

The part of the "amp" that carries the pre amp and the power amp. Usually. Sometimes, these can be separate. But, for ease sake, it's not right now. You plug your guitar into the input of the amp which is in the PREAMP section. This boost the volume from mic/pickup volume to the standard practiced, LINE volume. Or LINE level. This, in turn, goes out of the pre amp section into the power amp section of the "head." This is the section that take the Line Level signal and boosts it to speaker level out to your SPEAKER CABINET. The cabinet is what holds you speakers so the signal can be translated to an air wave due the speakers vibrating. And that's what you hear.

Good description there. Just to add my own $.02 (and because time doesn't waste itself here at work...somebody's gotta do it!):

A cabinet is just a box that holds speakers. A head is just a box that holds the preamp and power amp. Put them together and you have a stack. The most common cabinet is probably a 4x12, which houses 4 12" speakers. But 2x12 and 1x12 are still pretty common cabinet sizes as well. 1x15 and 4x10 are common cabinets for bass guitar rigs.

Your Marshall MG is what's known as a combo amp. That means that the preamp, power amp, and speaker cabinet are all 1 unit.

Here's a link to a stack version of the Marshall MG:

The head sits on top, and then there are 2 cabinets underneath.
