Why the small pop at the beginning when I apply compression?

I am using Digital Performer 5 and using T-Racks plug-ins. I noticed that when I solo a track where I have applied compression I can hear a small pop at the very beginning right when the track starts - you dont see anything audible in the wav form though. Most of the time I am using the standard pre-sets for vocals so its not like I'm trying something crazy.
Its pretty minimal so you cant hear it when the instruumental is playing. But you can def hear it if you bounce out the individual tracks or if you did something accapella or if the vocal track happened to start before the instrumental.
Any idea why this is happening and if I can avoid it? Thanks for the replies.
