I'm trying to make my own cables for my band since they are way expensive at GC and too cheap at other stores any one have any recommendations for good quality but yet affordable cables to make instrument and mic wires.

If you are making them yourself, it's not really the quality of the cable. But, the quality of the connection(solder points) and the care you take of them.

I recommend HOSA. Not too expensive and the only that gives out on them is my own work. Haha.

Beldon Cable and SwitchCraft connector's.

Making your own is easy if you know how to solder.

I got some Dayton audio 22ga, and neutrik jacks.

I ran them in my walls, so I had to get my own cable and construct them myself.

I've been pretty happy, though I've not compared them to high end cables.

I got most from parts express.

Sorry Noize, I have to side with pjk on this one.

I prefer the Neutrik jacks over the Switchcraft connectors. They are easier to field service. Since you don't need a screwdriver to take them apart. Just untwist the back, and it's all right there for you to get to.

For wire, I like the Beldon of West Penn. Either if fine. Just if you never worked with Beldon before, you may find it a little difficult to deal with. The shield is braided around the conductors. And the jacket is a little thick. It's a small learning curve to get it right. Once you do, then it is a high end cable.

As a side note, I use West Penn, only for installs. It's great for pulling in though conduit.

Ya, I guess. I've always used Switchcraft in the studio here. And when I played live there was no Nuetrik.

But I can see the advantage of them.

But yes, the Beldon cable is probably the most durable I have used.

Cool TC. Then I'll just keep soldering on my Switchcraft ends.

Speaking of which. I need to make a nice cord with a 90 now for Ray as he isn't digging the 6 footer I gave him to use with straight ends on both sides.
