the plugin management varies from app to app, some have ways to remove some from your list, some don't.
I'd suggest you probably don't need all of them if you have that many, get rid of the ones you don't need...

I'm guessing your running PT le or something since you have the M-Box. So I am not sure how they manage the pluggins there.

In Sonar there is a great pluggin manager that can remove and or file the pluggins any way you see fit. Cubase is similar but not as extensive as Sonar.

If you are not using PT le then you may be using Cubase le or something along those lines and using VST pluggins.

If they are strictly effect pluggins you can simply remove the .dll file and then make sure and remove any reference to the pluggin in the registry and in the programs folder such as presets and the like.

I am pretty sure they have a pluggin manager in there from which you should be able to organize them.

Without a dedicated part of the app it is difficult to organize them in any real way.

As for ridding yourself of them, are you using VST with the converter in PT or are you using the RTAS and Audio Suite type pluggins? You will simply need to look for those file extension's as well and remove them. Unless the plugin came with its own installer and un-installer, then use that.

can i interject for a sec...

there just ARENT any good freeware distortion plugins, are there? i'm so sick of this years-long distortion crisis. spent hours last night trying to get my stupid POD to sound passable and it's just crap and so is everything i've ever tried.

anyone have ANYthing? any freeware distortion that actually works?

Distortion, for being the most basic of effects, has yet to have any decent PAY software plugs, much less freeware.

The Green Machine is one of the best I have used, it's not free...other than that, I gotta say, I like Line 6's distortion, their triple rectifier I like I lot, but with the Line 6 stuff, it REALLY depends on which speaker model you use...it makes a hell of a difference.

i zeroed in on the line 6 trip rec myself, but it no longer does the job. it, like all the other sounds, bothers me greatly now.

what's that freeware jcm800 called again? i remember i liked that one a lot. very convincing. i tried it a few years ago. maybe if i run guitar through that and then distort the result with freeware i'll get something good.

forty, I wish I still had my POD 2.0 presets because I'm sure there would be something in there you would like.

I know that your taste and mine might be very different, and that is an issue that can come up. Someone has the exact sound they want in there head and never can seem to find it in the digital world.

I have to state though again that it has taken me years, and I'm talking since the release of the very first POD to find and perfect the use of those things. Although I probably don't use as heavy a distortion most times I have tweaked out some XT and UX patches using their emulation of the Arbitor Fuzz Face that are simply killer. But my taste in distortion is very old school when it come to using that type of effect. But for all out high gain by today's sounds I still use the Triple and love it.

I simply wish I could find those patches to send you and give you a good place to start from.

a few years ago i downloaded a bunch of POD presets and basically hated them all. i've never found something even remotely usable for POD 2.0.

maybe i'll try downloading some new patches tonight and see what happens. it's been a while

Do you have the manual or the online help/manual that should have installed with it from the factory?

I don't have a clue how their menu hierarchy is set up. And there are only a couple here who run that software.

I would imagine it is either in the same area as your options or preferences or if there is an FX menu of sorts. Otherwise it might be in the same context menu you open PT from.

Forty, shoot me an email so I have you current email address. I don't wanna jack his thread any more so I'll see if I can walk you through something over email.

I think FreeAmp does a pretty good job with distortion.

I've been lucky with my Digitech RP250. Some nice sounds to be had.
