problem with vsti in cubase le4

I've downloaded and set up several vsti's and they are working fine. However, one Cellofan and DK Brass give the following errory message when I try to activate them in a trax.

The mixer config expected "name of vsti" to have Output 1: Stero

>The instrument currently has Output 1: Mono
> The Instrument will be silent

Not sure how to solve the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've gone into VST connection and changed to mono, I've changed indiv trax to mono...nothing seems to work.

Thanks,
Thomas Gahagan

Can you change the instrument output then to stereo?

I know this was discussed here before, but not exactly sure what the thread was titled.

It may also have an issue with the .dll file being corrupted. You might try downloading the VSTi again and re-installing it.

I know I have had a similar issue, but that was in the very early days of VSTi and DXi.

Hi...
Thanks for the reply.
Yea... that was the very first thing I tried. Oh....this is really simple...I thought.... NOT!

I did do a search here but came up with nothing.

This same question is on the stienberg..cubase forum (asked by someone else)but it has not gotten any response yet there.

Thaks again for your response!

I'll go search them out and give them a shot in Sonar to see if I can get an error message like that.

I'm just guessing, but seeing as your other VSTi's work fine it would seem that the .dll file is probably the culprit and possibly corrupt. But I'll have a look hopefully tomorrow evening.

Well he is getting other instruments to work in it so I am pretty sure it is not LE that is the cause of the problem. I am wondering if the .dll file is corrupt from the guy who has made it, or if it simply has a bug that is not getting along with something else on the system.

Like I said, if I get a chance which probably won't be until Friday I'll give it a go in Sonar and see what happens.

Well I guess there is no answer to this problem!

I've had this same question up on the cubase forum and it has been read over 100 times and not one response. I've even contacted both the vsti makers and stienberg support and no responses.

Oh Well... no biggie... I just will use other products!

Hey man, dont give up just yet, is your LE4 fully updated? definatley try that as there are afew, that could well do the trick.
go to steinberg.com and look under downloads for le4.

In the Cubase forum you mentioned, they never answer anything, dunno why they even have it.

Hi Deon....

Yea... I've downloaded the latest versions, files, etc. So I'm good to go there.

So far, this is the only problem I've had [turns and knocks on wood] so I've really not been to that forum much. I did notice (on the cubase forum) another posted had the same problem and nobody answered his post either.

What I really thought was strange was the people that created the plug ins have not responded either.

I guess it is just one of those isolated problems that may never get fixed. Sad too because the dskbrass had some pretty good brass sounds on it... for free!!! Oh well....plenty of fish in the sea!!!

Tom, sorry it took so long to get to this.

I did find them and got them installed.

I will say that they did work, but there is a big question as to the coding of the file. the .dll on both were flaky to say the least. I'm not sure if those were written with Synth Edit but some of the coding looks familier as some of the models appear to be generic.

I have to say this that I have already un-installed them as they both created some issue's even in Sonar 7 PE which handles even the worst coded VSTi's.

I did go back through each version all the way to Sonar 3 and it was still flaky using the VST converter pluggin.

They also opened in Project 5 but again, were very un stable to say the least.

I may make a bug report to the creator of the files and you might do the same if you really like the VSTi's.

I'll try and keep you posted here if I find anything else on the.

Noize you may know aboout this, but for instance, if Tom here tried to uninstall and re install LE4 and he had files that had moved around and werent in the right place anymore, would he still be able to uninstal properly? Or would he not be able to and therefore making it impossible to fix the problems by reinstalling.

I just have this slight memory of when i was first mucking about with LE that i lost this same particular file .dll and i got a mate of mine to find it and it wasnt where it as meant to be.

Now i remember, it made it so i couldnt use my pantheon reverb. it wasnt an option anymore in my effects.
I tried uninstalling and re; but it did nothing till the file was put back in place.
it had actually moved by itself out of a folder.
i could be wrong but im fairly sure.

Ya, that can happen and would show those symptoms for sure. Good call on that one, but if it is starting to load the synth it is finding the .dll

And I believe he did re-install them and still no luck with them.

Hey.....

Thanks Noize and Deon!

From what you have learned I am probably better off not using them.

I just needed a good brass ensemble sound and the dskbrass demo sounded pretty good (for free!!!!! ) but I bet there is something just as good out there. I will do some digging!!!!

Anyway.... I do appreciate all you tried to do to help me. Thanks!
