hey dudes,
im using drum loops for a song and ive used hitpoints and slices and changed the tempo for a particular loop.

the song has multiple tempos so i will have to change a few loops. so far ive done one but when that loop is finshed and it moves on to a different tempo loop the program obviously tries to change that to the previous tempo also.

What i want to do is change one loop tempo and keep that tempo fixed and then move to the next different tempo and fix that also, so when the song plays the tempos change to my settings as it goes thru the song.

im sure there is something i can do for this, i just dont know it.
can someone please enlighten me?

ultimately i want to set a desired tempo for a loop and then copy it at that tempo so it wont change and then insert it into the track...is that possible coz i cant seem to be able to do it.
hope i made sense

Here's where I fall apart a little bit on trying to help. I can only speak to how I do it in Cubase 4. I've tried building loops in Frootloops and importing them into Cubase, but the tempo is never exact and it is a pain trying to get it to line up exactly. I build my drum parts directly in Cubase using the drum editor in midi. If I need tempo changes I'll use the time streach utility (streaches or shrinks). Works great on drums. If I have multiple tempos, I use the tempo map in Cubase to alter those tempos real time in the prog. I can then use the 'Snap to' or start position of each part to get allignment without haveing to diddle-putz with draging and droping allignment.

hey Walt,
thanks for ya reply, i think i got it sussed, havent tried it yet but i think ya can set up a grid section in cubase where you can program the loop tempos a grid at time.
i have for example a loop at say 180bpm and i need it at 200, then the next loop is at 165 and i need it at 177.

i can set up hitpoints n slices on the loops that need temp. changing

and then just program the grid to change the tempos at the dedicated intervals.

simple eh? (laughs)
i hope it is that simple.
Geez if it works out like that, it will absolutley makes things alot easier, hell i might be able to write/rec. some music. that'll be cool.

Yikes, I haven't played anything that booked out at 200 since I played some old Lionel Hampton stuff. That boy was just not right. Every one of his songs was more of a technical exersize than a song.

Regardless, glad to hear you got it under control.

It should be a matter of "instert tempo change at cursor position." I have an older version of Cubase so I could't say regarding 4. The concept should be similar though.
