n00b recording question

so about an hour ago i got an alesis 12 usb mixer. i have been messing around with it (it is my first recording experience ever) and i have encountered a problem. i have been recording my guitar straight through to my computer into cubase le which came with it. but there is no playback sound on cubase. i see that its recording but when i press play nothing happens. i tried audacity and it worked fine so it must be cubase. what am i doing wrong!!!

check in the cubase 'driver area' to make sure that it's outputting to the alesis...

there is also the possibility of a 'monitor button' (suppoed to look like a speaker on the track controls) that will need to be unchecked...

Yep, I think zek has it. Its probably just the fact you need to assign the alesis as the playback device or what ever you have your speakers hooked to in the track in cubase.
